Royal Burgundy Bush Bean is an open-pollinated disease resistant bean that will give an abundance of stunning purple stringless, rounded pods approx. 15 cm long. The beans are bright green inside and turn green when cooked.
Beans (with the exception of Broad Beans) are warm season crops and frost tender. Seeds will rot in cold, wet soil, and germination will be poor. In frost-free, subtropical areas beans can be sown all year round, but may suffer from pest (bean fly) and disease (rust) problems in mid-Summer so avoid sowing in December and January.
Sow seed approx. 2cm deep, Spring and early Summer, full sun, in fertile, well drained rich garden soil. Water well once after sowing and then do not water again until seedlings appear. Germination approx. 7 - 10 days. Days to harvest approx. 52 - 60 days.
