Brassica rapa pekinensis
Tokyo Bekana is a Japanese variety of loose leaf Cabbage. It produces mild sweet tasting bright green ruffled leaves that do not form a head like traditional cabbage, and is a good alternative to lettuce. Can be eaten raw or cooked.
Sow seed approx. 5mm deep, directly where you wish to grow it, in early Spring - Autumn (and Summer in moderate to cool climates), full sun, well composted, rich well drained soil. Germination approx. 4 - 6 days, Maturity approx. 45 days, or 20 days (baby greens).
