Cucumis Sativus

Richmond Green Apple Cucumber is an old Australian heirloom variety.  The plants produce green oval shaped low-acid fruit that is white inside, growing to approx. 12cm.  They have bitter-less skin with wonderful crunchy flesh.  It has a mild cucumber flavour and is very juicy.

Best grown on a trellis. Pick regularly to encourage more fruit. It continues to produce over a long period and copes well with hot weather.  Avoid overhead watering to reduce disease.

Sow approx. 1cm deep, or 50cm apart if growing on a trellis, Spring and Summer, full sun, moist well drained soil. Prepare the soil with compost and well-rotted manure; cucumbers do not like acidity and need frequent watering. Germination approx. 4 - 10 days. Frost tender annual.  Approx. 70 days to maturity.
