White Vienna Kohlrabi is an Heirloom root vegetable that was introduced before 1860. It has a mild taste similar to turnip and has a light green coloured skin and tender white flesh inside. It can be eaten raw (grated) or steamed/cooked.
Hardy biennial usually grown as an annual, this is a hardy, easy to grow vegetable.
Sow seed approx. 5mm deep, early Spring or late Summer and Autumn. Germination approx. 3 - 10 days. Full or partial sun, moist soil. Maturity approx. 55 - 75 days. It is best to harvest when they are small, golf-ball-sized, approx. 5-6cm, as they can become fibrous with age.
