
Allium porrum
Bulgarian Giant Leek produces long thin white stalks with light green coloured leaves. The longer stalks allow for more use in the kitchen. It is a mildly sweet flavoured leek variety that is popular throughout Europe, predominantly grown as an Annual.
Sow seed approx. 5mm deep in rich well composted soil. Best grown as a cool season crop, in cold temperate areas sow August - September; in warm temperate areas sow May - February; in subtropical areas sow March - August. Germination approx. 10-14 days. Maturity in approx. 110 days. Hill stalks to blanch and create longer stalks.
