Allium porrum

Carentan Leek is an old French Heirloom variety that has short, thick white stalks up to 5cm, and long blue-green leaves.  It is a hardy, mildly flavoured leek variety that tolerates very cold weather, usually grown as an Annual.

Sow seed approx. 5mm deep in rich well composted soil. Best grown as a cool season crop, in cold temperate areas sow August - September; in warm temperate areas sow May - February; in subtropical areas sow March - August.  Germination approx. 7 - 10 days.  Maturity in approx. 100 days.  Hill stalks to blanch and create longer stalks.
