The Lemonade tree is a cross between a lemon (Citrus limon) and a mandarin (Citrus reticularis).

It is a small, bush, evergreen tree growing to 4 metres.

Fruit is produced in winter. The lemon like fruit are edible (skin and all). Young trees may begin to fruit after approx. 3 - 4 years. The fruit is best picked when it is an even yellow colour all over.

Easy to grow like most citrus trees, needs little pruning, fertilise with a general citrus food.

Position – Full sun.
Soil – Well drained, humus rich.
Fruiting Season – Winter through Spring depending on the climate.
Container growing – Only suited to very large containers, better suited to growing in the ground.

Lemonade trees are prolific fruiting trees once established, they do have thorns, so best to wear gloves when picking the fruit.
