Lovage is an upright herbaceous plant with leaves similar to Celery in taste and appearance. In French it's known as céleri bâtard or false celery.
It is a very versatile plant to grow in the kitchen garden. Every bit of the plant - from root to seeds and stem - can be eaten. The leaves can be eaten raw, or used as a flavouring when cooking soups or stews, over eggs or in pasta dishes. Roots are popular eaten as a vegetable, and the seeds can be ground into a spice to use when cooking.
Sow seed approx. 6mm deep, Spring and Summer, part or full sun, moist soil, Germination 7 - 21 days, Maturity approx. 90 days. It may die off in Winter however will re-shoot in Spring.
