Hibiscus Sabdariffa

Rosella Early is an attractive annual shrub with red stems, red/green leaves and produces yellow flowers followed by red fleshy fruit. The fruit can be eaten fresh but is most commonly used to make jam, tea and other beverages. The jam is very popular and quite delicious.  It also has medicinal uses.

The plant needs at least 6 months frost free to produce fruit so is best suited to warmer climates. Also known as "Roselle" and "Jamaica sorrel".  

This variety of Rosella has a broad leaf which is popular in Thai cooking; young leaves are used raw or cooked in salads and stir-fries.

Sow 10mm deep, Spring or after frost, full sun, moist soil.  Germination approx. 10 - 21 days.
