Red Vein Sorrel is a hardy nutritious perennial reaching around 30cm high. The green leaves, with contrasting red stems and veins, give a flavour that is crisp and lemony, very delicious when added raw to salads. The mature outer leaves can be cooked like spinach in various dishes. It is also known as "Bloody Dock" or "Red Veined Dock".
Sow seed approx. 5mm deep, in Spring and Autumn. Part shade preference, well drained soil, Germination approx. 7 - 14 days. Maturity approx. 55 days, harvest outer larger leaves first. Plants may also be propagated by division.
