Beefsteak Tomato is a climbing plant (indeterminate), and requires staking. Heritage variety. Very large, ribbed, slightly flat, red fruit that grows up to 500g. Delicious pink/red meaty flesh that is ideal for slicing.
Prune plants to two main stems, and keep well watered. Pick when mature to encourage more fruit production. To reduce the risk of disease in the plant water the roots/base rather than overhead. Rotate crops: do not plant in the same position two years in a row.
Sow 5mm deep, Spring and early Summer, full sun, moist well drained soil. Frost tender annual. Approx. 96 days to maturity.
