Wild Lettuce plant, Lactuca virosa, is also known as Prickly Lettuce or Opium Lettuce. The milky sap, lactucarium, can be used as a pain relief, and was used in Ancient Europe.
Wild Lettuce is a Biennial native to the Mediterranean region and prefers light, well-drained soils in an open, sunny position.
Sow seed approx. 2mm deep, in early Spring or late Autumn, full sun, well drained soil. Cool soil is essential for germination to occur.
